Every evening there is an hour when the ceiling light has outstayed its welcome: flat, bright and aimed at your eyes. Tranquil™ puts the light where it belongs, on the wall. A rounded slab of brushed aluminium about the size of an open hand hides a warm 6W LED whose light escapes only at the top and bottom, as two soft cones of gold rising and falling over the plaster. The metal stays matte and quiet and the wall does the glowing. Turn off the main light and the room moves into evening.

Starostlivosť

Dust the brushed face with a soft, dry cloth, always along the grain. Switch off and let the fixture cool before touching it. Use no liquids and no abrasives.

Does it have to be wired in?

Yes. Tranquil™ is a hardwired wall fixture. An electrician can fit it in about twenty minutes using the concealed plate and the fixings supplied.

What are its dimensions?

About 15 cm tall and 9 cm wide, standing 5 cm off the wall, the size of an open hand. It is small on the wall and has a large effect once lit.

Does it shine warm or cool?

Warm: a golden, end-of-day tone that suits plaster, wood and skin, and never the blue-white of an office corridor.

Which colour goes with a cream wall?

Bronze is the warmest and closest to oak and clay. Brass catches the most light and looks like jewellery. Charcoal makes the boldest mark against pale plaster.

Can I put several on one wall?

That is where it works particularly well. Spaced about a metre apart along a hallway, or on each side of a bed, the cones of light above and below join into one continuous band of evening light.

How much light does it give?

A gentle 6W accent. It is made to be layered with other low lamps into an evening scene and not to flood a room with light, which is the point.
